In 2007, Amanda graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a specialized honours degree in kinesiology and a minor in psychology. After graduating, Amanda worked at a women’s fitness club as a personal trainer. While there, she worked with people on an individual and group basis to help them meet their fitness goals. She also educated her clients about proper nutrition, posture, stretching, stress reduction, and relaxation. Before she decided to take her career in a different direction, she also worked as a general manager of a fitness club.
In 2010, Amanda received a diploma in massage therapy from the Medix College of Healthcare. The following year, she obtained the designation of a Registered Massage Therapist through the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Following this achievement, she ran a busy massage practice in midtown Toronto. At this time, her career was focused on helping others achieve optimal health once again.
Amanda believes that it is not enough to simply be healthy. Instead, through ongoing treatment plans, it is essential to maintain soft tissue health and ultimately prevent future problems. Amanda wants each of her clients to feel empowered regarding their treatment decisions and to understand their exact goals. Amanda also wants her clients to know how to get the most out of their massage treatments by introducing them to home care techniques and providing them with remedial exercise plans.
Amanda’s approach is both therapeutic and clinical and is designed to prevent pain while improving overall health. Some of the massage techniques she specializes in include joint mobilizations, Swedish massage, deep fascial work, stretching, and strengthening.
