Valentina’s love for massage began in 2011, when she studied general Swedish techniques in Romania. She went on to apply those skills for almost three years before moving to Canada. Here, she dedicated her time to growing her family, with the hope to go back to massage training as soon as possible.
As a new mother, Valentina was trying to cope with an achy, stubborn pain in the back of her shoulder that would just not leave her alone. She was so grateful and amazed that a 30-minute massage resolved her discomfort that she wanted to learn how she could offer the same kind of relief to others. In 2024, she returned to school, enrolling in the Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy.
Naturally curious and eager to learn, she attended various specialty clinics and volunteer placements that added to her skills. From treating athletes at the Bay Street Hoops event to working with pre- and post-surgical patients at Toronto General Hospital, patients in retirement homes, and patients at the school’s neurological clinic, Valentina learned to adapt her techniques according to her patients’ needs.
She designed treatments that helped them achieve their personal goals – from relaxation to pain relief, maintaining joint mobility, and improving proprioception and gait. Her most memorable placement remains the Homeless Connect Toronto event, where she was reminded of her desire to help people dealing with a wide range of challenges.
She continues to learn and add more knowledge to her “toolbox”, through workshops and webinars. In her spare time, she loves to play with her children, tend to her garden, swim, and solve puzzles.
